The whole Austin Gray team are excited to announce that chartered surveyor and RICS registered valuer Rupert Greenlees has qualified as a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). Since Rupert joined the Austin Gray team in 2005, he has played a key role in shaping our professional services. This latest accolade is a testament to his hard work and expertise which are invaluable for our clients in the south east.

Adding to our expertise

MRICS chartered status is a gold standard in the property industry. It demonstrates to our clients and the wider community that we work to the highest industry standards. To achieve MRICS, professionals must pass the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC), which depends on past experience in the industry and education. Progressing from AssocRICS to MRICS requires dedication, ambition and an ability to work at an advanced level.

After obtaining a post-graduate diploma in surveying from College of Estate Management, Rupert has gone on to become a trusted specialist for residential property valuation and leasehold reform valuations.

Rupert had this to say after his success: “I am extremely happy to have received my chartered status today – it has been a rigorous process but very much worthwhile. It is not just a symbol of the high professional standards which we hold ourselves to at Austin Gray, but is a seal of approval which I am very proud of. A week in the life of our professional services team

Our professional services team, led by Partner Stewart Gray FRICS, are specialists in leasehold property, ground rents and property valuations.

Rupert works to advise and guide clients on lease extension and provides collective enfranchisement valuation advice, as well as guidance on the negotiation of price and terms. His expertise includes procedural guidance, comprehensive valuation reporting, expert witness reporting and disputes resolution.

The team provide essential work to both residential and commercial clients, working in one of the biggest areas in the country for leasehold and freehold property. Due to the complexity of the process, we require discerning expertise to find solutions within regulation standards.

Valuations and development appraisals

Our valuation work is crucial for the purpose of lenders, tax issues, accounts, acquisition, rent conditions for tenants and lease viability for landlords.

An assessment of a property valuation is what a lender will look at before extending a lease to ensure that the cost of the extension is in line with how much they expect to lend, which is why you need a qualified surveyor on board from the beginning of the process.
